Design & Engineering Innovation

A room
reimagined.

In 2022, Greenery NYC transformed an unused conference room into a biophilic wellness retreat for a major tech office — an "unplug" space designed to promote employee well-being.

The space was designed parametrically to fit the space, featuring custom curved planters with built-in irrigation powered by Biotic Instruments — minimizing maintenance needs while maximizing botanical impact.

Integrated Water System

A self-sustaining water system using hidden tanks powers the entire installation. Automated irrigation runs silently behind the scenes, requiring no daily intervention from building staff.

Diverse Plant Selection

Over 30 different species of plants were introduced to the space, creating a rich ecosystem and maximizing biodiversity within the footprint of a single conference room.

Sustainable Low-Maintenance Operation

Automated irrigation combined with precision lighting means plants thrive despite no natural light. The system was designed from the ground up to sustain the natural world while being cut off from it.

Impact & Employee Reception

Results that
speak for themselves.

The project proved that biophilic design can enhance both well-being and efficiency in demanding workplace settings.

Employee Engagement & Satisfaction

#1Rated amenity

The Nature Nook became the highest-rated amenity in company history, surpassing traditional office perks such as gyms and cafeterias.

Increased Plant Growth & Longevity

30+Species thriving

Plants thrived despite no natural light, demonstrating that precision artificial lighting and automated irrigation can sustain a rich, diverse ecosystem.

Wellness & Productivity Benefits

Across the board

Employees reported reduced stress, increased focus, and higher overall workplace satisfaction — outcomes that validated biophilic design as an operational investment, not just an aesthetic one.

Growth Over Time

Year One
vs. Year Three.

The Nature Nook was designed to improve with time. By year three, the plant canopy had matured substantially, creating a denser, more immersive environment than when first installed.
